Parallel Security is pleased to be a trusted security provider working in conjunction with North Wales Police, local councils, partner agencies, and licensed premises. This means that we are continuously involved in various ongoing safety and security projects.

In support of the ‘Safer Streets’ project we deploy fully trained Street Marshalls who work throughout the night assisting the Police in ensuring that public safety is a priority for those feeling vulnerable or threatened during their night out.

It never stops at Parallel Security!

We’re expanding!

With our head office in Mold, we’re now expanding with offices in Coventry and Lichfield after taking over Oakwood Security Solutions.

Parallel was established in 2014 and specialises in a range of security solutions including site security, mobile patrol, key holding, events and training. Our key sectors include construction, healthcare, hospitality and leisure, and retail.

Our Managing Director Francis Johnson said,

“The majority of our clients are in North Wales, North West England and, increasingly, the Midlands.”

“The acquisition of Oakwood Security Solutions, which specialises in key holding and manned guarding, is a strategic move to enable us to capitalise on our growth in the region and further increase our footprint.”

“It will also provide us with an excellent base from which to offer our full suite of training solutions for security professionals.”

“We are delighted to welcome the Oakwood staff into the Parallel team, and we anticipate there being further recruitment across the various divisions of our business over the coming months.”

Parallel Security holds the Security Industry Authority’s prestigious Approved Contractor Status, accrediting it to provide manned guarding, key holding and door supervision. We are also a Highfield accredited training centre.

Our success has been recognised by the Welsh Government which includes Parallel Security on its Accelerated Growth Programme (AGP) aimed at supporting some of Wales’ most promising businesses.

We’re very happy to have installed a new 5 camera CCTV system at our stunning local Llangollen Railway.

The benefits of having a permanent CCTV security system in place means that sites are constantly monitored, and recorded footage can be viewed in real time as well as played back later – increasing security and providing a deterrent.

Whilst on duty Saturday night; our team of Street Marshals disposed over 20 broken glasses helping to reduce the amount of potential weapons and health and safety risks in Wrexham Town Centre.

Our team also came across a deadly 27cm long lock knife, which had been left near a shop entrance. The knife was carefully picked up and the team who then radioed the find into North Wales Police.

As our team already work with North Wales Police, they responded within minutes to take the weapon away to be destroyed.

Neither the Police or our Street Marshalls could work out whether this knife had been left for someone to use or hopefully by someone who had decided to dispose of the weapon due to the famous Knife Angel still towering over Wrexham Town Centre.

Either way, a great job by all and the streets of Wrexham continue to become safer for everyone.

We’re delighted to have another happy security systems customer receiving a brand new barrier and access control system for their new holiday resort in North Wales.

The system is completely automated and uses ANPR to allow guests to come and go as they please. The use of ANPR – Automated Number Plate Recognition – enables efficient, ticketless exit and entry and promotes security.

The first quarter of every year sees us sitting in hours of internal and external audits to ensure we maintain compliance to all of the certifications we hold. Managing compliance isn’t a once a year job. It requires the entire team to embrace our procedures, record all data and then review the results. Corrective action can then be made by the Management Team, if required. Needless to say, 2022 has been a great year up to now and we have successfully retained all of our certifications with an increase on our ACS score also. Great work by all

Parallel currently (April 2022) hold accreditations to:

Constructionline Silver Membership – For our investment into internal Health & Safety Procedures and Training

Constructionline Social Values – the investment and compliance into our Supply Chain

Armed Forces Convenant – Our investment into supporting ex-military personnel back into employment

Working in a rural region such as North Wales, we must ensure we can facilitate all security needs for our clients. Fixed & Temporary CCTV is the best solution when protecting rural buildings and assets. We keep the installation process simple by fixing our cameras around the perimeter and use the latest analytical cameras which are connected to a 24hr Control Room. The cameras only require a 12v power supply, so there is no health and safety implications with regards to potential electrocution. We don’t use towers as this is just an extra cost to the client, which enables us to offer our clients a highly competitive weekly charge rate based on the requirements.

These temporary CCTV solutions are ideal for Construction sites and other short to long term security requirements. CCTV also costs approximately 60% less than having a security guard on site and gives you a much wider live view of the site at any time. Each camera is specifically setup for its ‘field of view’ as the cameras learn their environments to minimise false alarms. On an alarm being triggered, the controllers would utilise all of the cameras on site to verify whether an intruder is on site and if required call the Police and our Patrol & Response team.

Parallel has been awarded the trial project to deliver Safer Street Marshalls to work alongside North Wales Police

The project was funded by Wrexham Council and is mainly targeting SWaN (Saftey of Women at Night), although our officers are trained to support the Police for most eventualities. The project to date has been an amazing success. Our officers have helped to save numerous lives, helped reduce crime and assist in keeping the peace in Wrexham Town Centre, reduce drinking and broken glass on the streets as well as providing survival blankets, slippers and medical support to dozens of vulnerable people.

A team of 4 specifically trained officers consisted of 2 female and 2 males. All officers came from a variety of backgrounds including Door Supervision, Care and Events. Additional training was delivered prior to contract starting with ongoing training from North Wales Police.

Intelligence and Reporting was key to the success of this project as Wrexham Council needed as much data as possible to demonstrate the need for ongoing Street Marshalls in Wrexham Town Centre

After a vicious attack on the Llangollen Railway stoarge yard, Parallel jumps in to offer free security

As a Welsh security provider based in Mold, we thrive to support local communities and businesses.  When Parallel Directors realised that Llangollen Railway had been a victim of local vandalism in August 2021, they quickly contacted Llangollen Railway to offer their security services

Francis Johnson (Managing Director) and Mel Pengelly (Director) of Parallel Security arranged a meeting with Phil Coles (Vice Chairman) of Llangollen Railway to discuss what had happened and how Parallel may be able to help this from happening again

After several site surveys and discussions over potential issues with securing the very remote storage yard where the vandalism took place, a plan was put together and offered to Llangollen Railway free of charge to help protect their beautiful carriages and engines from potential theft and vandalism in the future

Parallel provided state of the art CCTV, which is now installed at the rail yard. The cameras are monitored 24hrs a day and use artificial intelligence and motion detection to secure the areas.  If required, a Parallel Response vehicle will also attend to police the areas, if an alarm is activated.  Senior Management of the railway also have the facility to look at the cameras using mobile technology on their smart phones, giving additional operational and Health & Safety functionalities outside of the systems security provision

Francis Johnson stated “it was great to be able to support Llangollen Railway in this way, but we obviously wish that this incident had not have happened in the first place.  It is vitality important to our business to support the welsh community in this way and we are more than happy to support the railway on an ongoing basis to enable the services it provides to the public to continue without disruption from theft and vandalism

Phil Coles responded by thanking Parallel Security for their speedy response to the post on Facebook with photos of the vandalism and gracefully accepted their ongoing security support to the railway
